Epilepsy Pathway Innovation in Africa Study (EPiNA)
National Institute for Health Research, UK, 2021 - 2024
Objectives
  • To improve the awareness of epilepsy, especially nonconvulsive seizures, thereby reducing the diagnostic gap;
  • A. To determine if this gap can be reduced cost-effectively by interaction with traditional healers and through innovative technologies;
  • B. To improve care by increasing access to appropriate diagnosis by providing an epilepsy app;
  • C. Training of non-specialist healthcare workers in the mhGAP guidelines and improving adherence in PWE via SMS messaging and
  • D. To systematically evaluate if we can reduce the burden of epilepsy through appropriate application of the WHO’s Epilepsy Information Toolkit in Ghana.
Gender Transformative Approaches to Address Unmet Adolescent mental, Sexual and Reproductive Health Needs in Ghana, Niger and Burkina Faso (AdoWA - GTR)

Objectives
  • To co-design and formatively evaluate participatory interventions with adolescents, communities and frontline providers to enable gender transformative and responsive health systems at primary care level for adolescent sexual, reproductive and mental health and wellbeing in Ghana, Niger and Burkina Faso.
Africa, Research, Implementation Science and Education (Arise) Adolescent Health Study: Harnessing Longitudinal Data and Digital Technologies to Improve Adolescent Health (ARISE)

Objectives
  • To examine key adolescent health indicators related to nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, physical health, health services utilization and substance use; and
  • To evaluate the influence of digital health education on the health status of adolescents.
Rectifying the Effects of Covid-19 on Vulnerable Populations in West Africa: A Research Action (RECOVER)

Objectives
  • To contribute to and facilitate the development of evidence-informed strategies that strengthen cross-sectoral linkages to deal with collateral effects of COVID-19 on vulnerable populations in the West Africa region
Double-blind, randomized, active comparator-controlled, group-sequential, multinational trial to assess the safety, immunogenicity and efficacy of a trivalent rotavirus P2-VP8 subunit vaccine in prevention of severe rotavirus gastroenteritis in healthy infants (CVIA 061)

Objectives
  • To assess the relative efficacy in prevention of SRVGE of the TV P2-VP8 vaccine in comparison of Rotarix in the first two years of live s well as in the first and second year of life separately.
  • To assess the relative efficacy in prevention of very SRVGE (VSRVGE) of the TV P2-VP8 vaccine in comparison to Rotarix.
  • To assess the P-type specific relative efficacy in prevention of SRVGE and VSRVGE of the TV P2-VP8 vaccine in comparison to Rotarix, for P[4], P[6] P[8] strains.
